How to Share Your Watchlist (and Finally Decide What to Watch)

Last updated September 6, 2026

Everyone has had this argument. You're on the couch, someone has the remote, and the next twenty minutes disappear into scrolling. Not watching anything. Just scrolling.

The problem isn't that there's nothing on. It's that the two of you are looking at different libraries, on different apps, with no shared list to point at.

So we built sharing into your watchlist.

What it does

Open your watchlist, tap Share, and you get a link. Send it however you send things — text, email, a group chat. Whoever opens it sees your entire list: every title you've saved, with the services each one is currently streaming on.

They don't need a StreamingBeam account. They don't need to sign in. They tap the link and the list is there.

What they can't do

They can't change anything. It's read-only in the strictest sense — no adding, no removing, no marking things watched. Your list is yours.

They also can't see who you are. The page doesn't show your name, your email, or anything else about your account. If you want it labeled, there's an optional display name field — call it "Movie Night" or "Dad's List" or whatever makes sense. Leave it blank and the page just says it's a StreamingBeam watchlist.

Turning it off

The link stays live until you decide otherwise. Two controls on the share panel:

Generate new link creates a fresh URL and kills the old one immediately. Useful if you shared it somewhere you'd rather it not be.

Stop sharing shuts it off entirely. Anyone who opens the old link sees a message saying the list is no longer available.

Sharing is off by default. Nothing is public until you turn it on.

Where this actually helps

Deciding with someone in the room. Pull up the list, both look at the same six titles, pick one. This is the whole reason it exists.

Planning a watch party. Send the list ahead of time so people can weigh in before everyone's already sitting down.

Long-distance. If you and someone else are watching the same show separately, a shared list is a low-effort way to keep track of what's next.

Recommendations that stick. Telling someone "you'd love this show" gets forgotten by the next morning. A link they can open later doesn't.

The part that makes it useful

Your watchlist already tracks where each title is streaming. That travels with the link.

So when someone opens your list, they're not just seeing titles — they're seeing which of those titles they can actually watch on the services they already pay for. No opening four apps to check. If something's on Netflix and they have Netflix, that's the pick.

And if a title isn't on any subscription service right now, the list says that too, rather than sending them hunting for something that isn't there.

How to use it

  1. Sign in and go to your Watchlist
  2. Add a few titles if you haven't — Browse the catalog
  3. Tap Share your watchlist
  4. Copy the link and send it

That's it. The list updates as you add and remove titles, so the link you sent in March still shows what's on your list today.

One thing worth knowing

Because the link is live rather than a snapshot, anything you add later shows up for anyone still holding it. That's usually what you want — but if you'd rather a specific person only see a specific moment in time, generate a new link after you've made your changes and send that one instead.

Watchlist sharing is available now on web, iOS, and Android. Like everything else on StreamingBeam, it's free.

If you're not using the watchlist yet, Leaving Soon is the fastest reason to start. Save something you've been meaning to watch and we'll tell you when it's about to disappear.
